An analysis of COVID-19 article dissemination by Twitter compared to citation rates
- Researchers interested in studying the dissemination of COVID-19 publications through tweets versus citations
- Used LitCovid to collect 1328 publications from January 1 to March 18, 2020
- Used sign tests and negative binomial regression to compare tweet vs. citation rates and quantify the relationship between tweet rate and article topic, author location, and citation count
- Results showed that COVID-19 publications had significantly more tweets than citations
