When a correction of misinformation is presented after the misinformation itself, the correction is more effective.

Misinformation Correction and Message Order

Even with attempts of correction, falseful information can still have continued influence on people’s impression of certain subjects.

Continued Influence and Misinformation

The order in which information is presented can have an impact on an individual's way of analyzing and categorizing information.

Information Order and Categorization

When young children are exposed to a series of information, their judgment of morality is influenced by the order in which the information is presented.

Moral Judgment and Information Order in Children

Information in inductive category learning can be organized in different sequences that might be based on information variability, relations, and level of difficulty.

Organization and Sequence of Information in Inductive Category Learning

How different a category (and a sample) is from another can be an important factor affecting the learning outcome of inductive category learning, and the influence may vary depending on the sequences being used and compared.

Category Structure

Order in which a series of information is presented.

Topic of research project on visualization of information and misinformation.

Identifying Misinformation through Visualization

Misinformation has explored numerous different visualizations and their effect on misinformation-related measures. While not all of them may be directly specifically connected to information visualization, they can provide a wealth of knowledge on the effects of visualization.

Types of Visualizations in Misinformation Research

Please post your reference nodes for the project under this node.

References for Identifying Misinformation through Visualization

While accurate data visualization is helpful, inaccurate or misleading visualizations of data related to Covid 19 can lead to people having misconceptions regarding the virus.

Covid 19 Misinformation Visualization

While the topic of the project is directly related to the visualization of information for the purpose of studying misinformation, there exists relevant research that studies visualization to a more general extent.

Visualization Research (Not Related to Misinformation)

Research has investigated specific demographic characteristics and contexts that may make certain people/countries/communities more likely to experience misinformation related to COVID-19.

Demographics/Contexts Related to COVID-19 Misinformation

If the individual is repeatedly exposed to the same false story, the trustworthiness and plausibility of the story would increase.

False Stories Exposure and Plausibility

Aid or other visual content that, combined with text or audio, falsely depicts a piece of information.

Visual Misinformation

Some researchers have explored tools that can be implemented to minimize the dissemination of fake news or misinformation.
